COOKIES

We have sold cookies to friends, families, neighbors, and co-workers. Now it's Cookie Booth time!

This past weekend was our first Cookie Booth shift. The girls smiling faces and the famous Girl Scout Cookie sold many boxes of cookies. The girls did great.

Thinking Day

Thinking Day is an annual Girl Scout event, filled with tradition, culture and friendship.

Some troops set up a booth of a country of their choosing. At the booth they will have a food item from that country, a display, and small "swaps" they have made. "Tourists" will walk around from table to table trying the food, learning about the countries and collecting the "swaps." After traveling the world there are performances from the countries.

Here are some memories from our day as tourists at this years Thinking Day.

Valentine's Day Card Delivery

The day before Valentine's Day the troop took their annual field trip to Pacific Hills Manor and handed out cards. In one short hour they created many smiles and warm hearts to last days. It is such a special feeling to make someone happy.

Sleepover

In February we had a troop sleepover. What a fun night. The girls made personal pizzas for dinner. We finished up our Valentine's Day cards we made for our visit to Pacific Hills Manor. The girls played games and had a great time. I heard they even went to bed at a decent time.
Gg made a wonderful pancake and sausage breakfast in the morning.

Here are just a few of the girls wonderful memories.

December Birthday Girl

We are having so much fun celebrating all the girls birthday's.
Here is our December birthday girl.

Winterfest

Sorry for the delay. Here are some pictures from our December event. Most of the troop went to Winterfest. What a fun event. The girls made crafts all day. We stopped for lunch and went right back in to make more! We also got to go shopping. The older Girl Scouts were selling things they had made.

All the girls went home with a bag full of fun gifts. We all had a blast.

One of the highlights and Girl Scout traditions is this orange drink. You put a peppermint candy stick into an orange and drink.

All the girls from our troop who attended (with a few visitors)

Gotta do a silly picture

The Mighty B

We enjoyed another birthday at our meeting complete with brownies...the edible kind. Today's meeting was filled with celebrations and badge work for our nutrition Try-It. We got to taste yogurts flavored by honey, preserves and even peanut butter. The girls voted on what they liked and didn't like. The peanut butter didn't get many votes and honey was the clear winner. Our next meeting will have some Thanksgiving fun and hopefully collect all of the nut and magazine $$$.

The Other Fun Night Out

While everyone else was at the Valley Fair sleep over our other two Brownies also had a fun night out.

We started by going to Glazed Creations and glazed pottery. We had a great time. We can't wait to pick our pieces up. (Two moms, two Brownies, & two siblings)

After glazing our pottery pieces we had a pizza dinner, everyone got into PJs (even moms) and we watched a movie. The kids danced around and played until 10pm, then everyone went to sleep in their own comfy beds.

It was a wonderful afternoon and evening and the girls didn't feel like they missed out on all the fun.

Valley Fair vs. Troop 60538

What a crazy night! I didn't know they could do it...heck, I didn't think I could do it. Most of the girls from our troop and a few others from my bff's troop stayed up to past 4am. I crashed at around 4am so I missed a few bathroom trips chaparoned by another mom. We started our night with a dinner at the mall and then hauled our stuff to a nice cozy spot. It seemed fine at the time until we realized we were next to the coin operated candy dispensing machines and spot lights from CSI. It added a little flavor to our night. Many of us went to Build-A-Bear and ended up spending practically the whole evening there to our dismay. Somehow the staff at BAB didn't get the memo about 1,500 girls spending the night. They had a staff of 3. On the other hand Starbucks rocked with their 6 employees. By the time we were done with BAB it was time for the Midnight Pizza Party. Who knew they'd be hungry again. They sucked down every last piece and then it was off to the Dance Party. It was like everyone had a second wind. Shoes were flying off, girls were spinning and then they joined in on a conga line. The older girls were too cool to join in so they scoured the mall with cell phone in hand to keep me posted on their window shopping. We all had a bathroom break and then it was movie time.

They played the Bee Movie in another section of the mall. I couldn't believe they were still awake. I couldn't believe I was still awake. I thought they would pass out while watching the movie. Nope! Now my memory is becoming blurry. I think we went back to our camp site. I remember laying down and having to tie my daughters legging like a blindfold to block the interrigation lights from blinding me. I have no other memories until we were woken up around 7am. Cinnabon was the breakfast. Yum. Nothing like a huge shot of sugar when you first wake up.

I had enough energy to crawl to my bag and get dressed and roll up my sleeping bag. My daughter started crying that her feet hurt. Gee, I wonder why....were you up dancing for hours? All in all it was really fun for them. They will never forget this night. If I complain about anything, it's that I'm getting too old to stay up that late. The best part for me is that all I had to unpack at home was my jammies...No camping supplies! No cleaning up! I would trade a night of sleep anyday for that. All the moms were good sports and hopefully will do it again next year.

Guest Speaker

This week we had a guest speaker at our Brownie meeting. One of our wonderful Brownie Mom's took time out and talked to the girls about eating healthy. It is part of the Eat Right, Stay Healthy Try-It. The girls learned all about the food pyramid and even read a few food labels.

A great big Thank You to our Brownie Mom who took time out to teach us all about eating right!

Another Birthday & Learning a New Game

Sorry for the delay in this post. This meeting was actually two weeks ago.

We celebrated another Brownie birthday. I love our new tradition.

As part of the Brownie Girl Scouts Around The World Try-It the girls learned how to play Chinese Jump Rope. What fun. All the Brownies that attended got at least two turns. They didn't want to stop!

For those Brownies who missed this meeting, don't worry. We'll do it again so you can try it. It's too fun, not to bring it back.

Second Meeting of the Year

We are well under way to our second year of Brownies. We have welcomed three new girls to our troop.

At our second meeting we started on the Math Fun Try-It. The girls enjoyed making posters all about their numbers.

We are adding something new and fun to our meetings this year. We will celebrate each of the girls birthdays. Nothing fancy. An extra special treat and a song. Our first birthday girl of the year is pictured.

Surprise! It's Breakfast Time!

Here we are at our first function of the new scouting year. Each of the girls were surprised when their leaders showed up at their door early Saturday morning. With no details we scooped them up and drove to Scramblez for breakfast. We had 12 girls all in their jammies giggling about their bed head and why we did it. Our waiters were very patient with us as we order breakfast or in some cases lunch! We had so much fun and all the girls got to take home a special patch to remember this day.

TeddyBear Picnic 2008

They all earned their "Manners Try-It" today. Everyone brought their teddy bears to join in on the fun. We had little sandwiches and lemonade "tea". All the girls got to take home a special china teacup to remember their special day.

The Caper Chart

I don't think anyone would have a bad day if they had to look at this every morning. I just couldn't contain myself after Theresa showed me the finished chart. I copied the format from another troop and customized it with our girls. This chart is used at every meeting. Everyone has a special job to keep our meeting flowing. The girls will be rotated each meeting and get to take on important responsiblities like attendance, flag leader, etc.

We briefly went over the formalities of a GS mtg. Next mtg. we will practice the traditional flag ceremony and the GS promise once again, so keep them practicing. Most of the troop fees and GS store supply items have been paid by you all, but if you didn't please do so at the next meeting.

All of the nut/magazine packets have been sent home. And surprise, surprise they want to go to Build-A-Bear with their profits. This goal will require each girl to sell about 30 items. That's nuts and/or magazines combined. If you choose to sell at your place of work, please have your daughter draw a picture, or take a picture of them in uniform to display with their sales order form. They should remember that we are working towards a goal as a troop and be proud. Although nuts and magazines are not that well-known to be sold by GS, we make a much better profit from them. They make great teacher and hostess gifts for the holidays. Please remember although they may be excited, sales do not start until Oct. 1....GS honor!

The Halloween Party has been set on Friday, Oct. 26 at 5:45 pm. It is a local event and I will give the location at our next mtg. FYI (It is GS policy that I do not give location of any events or display names w/ picture of any person affiliated with GS as a safety precaution on a website) Cost is $7 per girl and include snack, a patch, and lots of games! I need this payment by Oct. 4. We have to register as a troop for this event.

And remember our next meeting is THURSDAY, Oct. 4.

Sorry for the inconvience, I have to pack up girls for Fall Camporee with my older girl troop.

Our First Meeting

I can't tell you how much fun we all had on friday! Between the smiles and giggles we even managed to get all our goals accomplished in our first meeting. The excitement was buzzing from activity to activity. I think they loved doing the closing circle activity the most. They learned how to do the "brownie squeeze". We've got more in store for our next meeting. Hope you enjoy the pictures!!
